My view of life beyond high school has drastically changed after my internship. I realized that I will probably have multiple career changes throughout my life no matter how much I try to plan my future. I've come to terms with this and I'm starting to enjoy myself more now that I know how unpredictable my life will be. I realized how much freedom people have in the "real world" and how much responsibility it takes to succeed and accomplish personal goals. I also realized that beyond school, everyone becomes completely in charge of their own destiny, and start to think about traveling, moving away from family, and eventually starting their own families.
As I've had to spend time on my own and get a taste of what it really feels like to take responsibility for my actions, I've started to observe the world as whole through my own , and some questions that I've thought about are:
What is responsibility? What determines if someone is responsible?
Who/what determines success?
What does it mean to be a citizen of San Diego? The United States? The world?
How will I contribute as a citizen of the world?
Finally, here is a selfie from my last week of internship with a one-word caption of my experience.
